Bucy to Serve as Faculty Member for False Claims Act Mock Trial Institute

Partner Benjamin P. Bucy will be participating as a faculty member in the American Bar Association’s False Claims Act and Qui Tam Trial Institute 2024, which will be held at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Historic Courthouse from October 16-18, 2024.  The 3-day mock False Claims Act jury trial includes lawyers from the Department of Justice, relator’s bar, and defense bar, as well as federal judges. Ben is assisting the government by examining the government’s damages expert in the mock case which alleges the Defendant submitted false claims for medically unnecessary physical therapy.

Ben has been involved in all phases of False Claims Act (FCA) cases, including case development, drafting FCA complaints, assisting the Government in sealed FCA investigations, litigating FCA cases and has secured millions of dollars in False Claims Act settlements.  Ben’s FCA experience has involved health care fraud cases, including hospice fraud, home health fraud, medical device fraud, pharmaceutical fraud, and skilled nursing facility fraud as well as import fraud and defense contracting fraud cases.
