Summer Associates

Our summer associate program is designed to provide law students an experience representative of life as a firm associate. Summer associates work closely with our attorneys in a variety of practice areas, including those that are of particular interest to the individual. Responsibilities typically include legal research, drafting research memoranda and pleadings, and attendance at depositions, hearings, trials, and client meetings. The firm also assigns a mentor to each Summer Associate to ensure they receive individual attention, feedback, instruction, and guidance throughout their clerkship. The summer program requires a six-week time commitment.

Our firm also plans a variety of social events to provide an opportunity for Summer Associates to interact with the attorneys in a more relaxed setting. Past summer activities have included private catered parties, live music at Wednesday at the Square, trivia night at Tracey’s Original Irish Pub, bowling tournaments at Fulton Alley, a French Quarter cocktail tour, and a traditional Friday lunch at Galatoire’s Restaurant.

In the past, our firm's summer program has welcomed a diverse group of highly motivated law students with outstanding academic records from some of the nation's top law schools, including Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Duke University, the University of California - Berkeley (Boalt Hall), the University of Virginia, the University of Michigan, Vanderbilt University, Tulane University, Louisiana State University, and Loyola University.

As one of the firm’s diversity initiatives, the firm offers a 1L Summer Associate scholarship for diverse students through the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).  The chosen 1L scholar will participate in a paid six-week Summer Associate program at the firm’s New Orleans office and will receive a $5,000 bonus after completing the summer program.  The scholar will also be enrolled to attend the LCLD 1L Scholars Summit to learn relationship-building and career development strategies.
